Assistant Service Manager

This is a unique opportunity to join a high-performing, customer-focused independent workshop where no two days are the same.

You will need to have a strong mechanical background to step into this pivotal Assistant Service Manager role. This position is not suited to someone without hands-on mechanical or technical workshop experience. A solid understanding of workshop operations is essential.

Working closely with the owner and manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth, efficient day-to-day running of the business.

Your responsibilities will span customer service, workshop control, parts coordination, and technical support, with workshop leadership and technical credibility at the forefront.

Benefits

  • Great work life balance with stable hours and a positive workplace culture
  • Career growth pathway
  • A package that rewards your skills and contribution, including vehicle and fuel card
  • Work with a forward-thinking, customer-focused team that values you
  • Exposure to all aspects of workshop operations across multiple automotive brands

Day to day responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and build trusted relationships with clients
  • Oversee daily workshop control, ensuring jobs are scheduled and completed efficiently
  • Support quoting, billing, and parts coordination to keep the operation running seamlessly
  • Apply strong mechanical and technical knowledge to support technicians and diagnose issues where required
  • Assist in team leadership, performance, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced workshop environment

About you

  • A trade-qualified Automotive Mechanic/Auto Electrician or proven experience supporting technical teams
  • Proven experience working in an independent automotive workshop is highly desirable
  • Experience across multiple automotive brands
  • Strong multitasking skills, with the ability to thrive in a high-performance environment
  • Clear, confident communication skills with both customers and team members
  • A drive to continuously learn and step up into leadership responsibilities

Our client is a forward-thinking, supportive, independent full-service workshop that values people as much as their customers.

If you are ready to be part of a business where you will be valued, supported, and given the opportunity to grow into management, we want to hear from you.
