GO Rentals is looking for an experienced Lead Automotive Mechanic to join its Christchurch Airport operation in a senior, hands-on position.

With more than 25 years in New Zealand, GO Rentals is an established rental vehicle business known for its quality fleet and customer service.

Through its partnership with Enterprise Mobility, GO Rentals also represents Enterprise, National and Alamo in New Zealand.

Working across a varied rental vehicle fleet, you’ll remain on the tools while also helping coordinate the day-to-day workload of a small workshop team, managing workflow and maintaining high standards of workmanship.

This is a varied role with great benefits, where you’ll have genuine responsibility for the day-to-day workshop operation, while still being actively involved in servicing, diagnostics and repairs.

What's On Offer

  • Senior, hands-on role with genuine responsibility
  • Work across a large and varied rental vehicle fleet
  • Birthday leave
  • Five free vehicle hire days each year plus staff discounts
  • $200 annual health and wellbeing benefit
  • Ongoing training and career development opportunities
  • Free health insurance after three years of service
  • Join an established New Zealand business backed by internationally recognised brands

The Role

  • Coordinate the day-to-day workload of a small workshop team
  • Carry out servicing, diagnostics and mechanical repairs
  • Allocate jobs and maintain efficient workshop workflow
  • Diagnose faults and assist with more complex mechanical work
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and quality
  • Manage workshop stock and assist with controlling repair costs
  • Ensure vehicles are repaired and returned to the fleet efficiently
  • Support and develop other members of the workshop team

About You

  • A recognised automotive qualification
  • At least four years of workshop experience
  • Strong servicing, repair and diagnostic skills
  • Confidence to organise and support a small team
  • Good communication and time-management skills
  • Comfortable balancing hands-on work with workshop coordination
  • Confidence using workshop systems and Microsoft Office
  • A current full driver licence

Previous leadership experience would be an advantage, however this could also suit an experienced technician ready to take the next step.

If you’re looking for more responsibility while remaining hands-on in the workshop, apply now to find out more!
