Heavy Vehicle Technician - Melbourne

Ready for a move across the Tasman? See why so many Kiwis are making the move to Australia! Take your heavy vehicle skills to Melbourne and join a long-established, family-owned business.

Outwest Concrete is looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join its workshop team in Sunshine North, Melbourne.

With more than 36 years in the concrete industry, Outwest Concrete operates an established fleet of concrete agitator trucks, heavy machinery and company vehicles.

This is a hands-on, varied role offering plenty of mechanical variety and the opportunity to become an important part of a busy workshop team.

What's On Offer

  • Competitive full-time remuneration based on your experience and capability
  • Overtime opportunities available
  • Varied work across trucks, machinery and company vehicles
  • Established Sunshine North workshop
  • Join a family-owned company with more than 36 years in the industry
  • Long-term, full-time opportunity in Melbourne

The Role

Working from the Sunshine North workshop, you’ll be responsible for keeping the fleet operating safely and reliably. Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy vehicles and concrete agitator trucks
  • Working across heavy machinery and company light vehicles
  • Diagnosing mechanical faults and completing repairs
  • Working with mechanical, auto electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Carrying out preventative and scheduled fleet maintenance
  • Attending to breakdowns and unexpected repairs
  • Maintaining high workshop and safety standards
  • Supporting apprentices or junior team members where required

There’s plenty of variety, and the role will suit someone who is confident getting stuck in, diagnosing problems and managing their workload without needing constant supervision.

About You

  • Experience servicing and repairing trucks, heavy vehicles or machinery
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic ability
  • Fleet maintenance experience
  • Auto electrical and/or hydraulic knowledge would be highly regarded
  • Experience with concrete agitator trucks would be an advantage, but isn't essential
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of repairs
  • A reliable, organised and proactive approach
  • A strong commitment to workplace safety
  • The ability to work effectively within a team

The successful candidate will also be required to complete a police check and pre-employment medical.

If you're a New Zealand citizen, working in Australia is generally straightforward, with New Zealand citizens typically able to live and work in Australia without needing employer sponsorship.
