The Role

The Category Manager is responsible for driving best in market range and competitive pricing to help deliver profitable growth across the Capital Equipment sector within the NZ Market.

Responsibilities will include

  • In partnership with Merchandise Manager, develop and implement category plans
  • Identify market and product opportunities
  • Grow sales and GP (achieve annual budget numbers)
  • In partnership with GPC Pricing, develop and implement category pricing strategy
  • Introduce targeted percentage of new products
  • Inventory management for your responsible categories
  • Work with supply chain team to optimise inventory
  • Conduct range and product lifecycle reviews
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships including regular supplier QBRs
  • Grow Own Brand sales
  • Ensure the category can meet the market requirements via local and offshore vendors and stay with inventory guidelines
  • Maximise Digital channel opportunities (B2B/B2C)
  • Manage and maintain catalogue data (B2B/B2C)
  • Understand and demonstrate behaviour in accordance with all Company policies and procedures
  • Promote a safe work environment and safety culture by sharing best practice and keeping safety front of mind for all team members by facilitating regular communications

About you

  • Highly customer centric
  • 3 plus years category management experience specifically ranging, pricing, promotion and category planning
  • A passion for all things automotive would be a huge bonus in this role
  • Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
  • Role model, lead and inspire self and team members in creating Genuine Service moments
  • Passion for research and benchmarking
  • Be highly visible, live the Company values and lead by personal example
  • Strong cost management and project management skills
  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving
  • Strong IT skills
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
