The Role

JAVLN are on the lookout for an intermediate Java Developer who has a good understanding of the software development life cycle and current software development processes.

You will need to be flexible and willing to work on various parts of a complete system ranging from back-end systems and microservices through to front-end technology.

It is a great opportunity to work on a modern system which is designed to scale.

Day to day duties

  • Technical analysis and design
  • Participate in design reviews and workshops
  • Building and coding framework and solutions
  • Manage change control and release packaging
  • Documentation (technical, user, installation)
  • Fostering good development practice throughout the development team including code re-use, code documentation, and unit testing
  • Participating in reviews of the project plans, requirements and detailed designs by other developers
  • Estimating development efforts of product and feature development
  • Support external customers to use Javelin applications
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues as they arise

You will be operating across the following technology landscape so experience or knowledge of these systems is important

Java, Spring/Spring Boot, Maven, PostgreSQL, Swagger, Thymeleaf, JavaScript/React, SASS, Bootstrap, Keycloak (SSO), Containerisation and orchestration, AWS and cloud computing, Micro-services and its application, REST API knowledge, Shell scripting, Automated testing (end-to-end integration)

Additional skills required

  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Attention to detail in all areas
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously
  • Understanding of the sales process
  • Customer focused
  • Knowledge of build systems
  • Understanding of DevOPS role and relationship (relative to development)
  • Understanding of UI design concepts
  • Understanding of Agile principles
  • Experience in the Insurance Industry (beneficial)
